Coping with Anxiety the Godly Way
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. -Philippians 4:6
This verse provides blatant advice regarding coping with anxiety. In it, we find several godly ways in overcoming anxiety.
Paul advices us to, in prayer, present our requests before God. The act of humbly laying our requests, our case, before God calms our soul in that we are reminded God is in control of our circumstances, and he is solely God. We rest and submit our anxiety to him.
Thanksgiving helps to alter our perspective. Thanking God for the positives discount the negative and fills us with gratitude. It provides us with the memory of the good circumstances he has brought about in our lives, for God is good all the time. His wisdom and goodness are uncomprehendable, therefore he can be trusted to act righteously.
